FREE AND LOW COST HEALTHCARE RESOURCES

HEALTHCARE RESOURCES AT LOW OR NO COST

Listed below you will find healthcare resources throughout Utah and the Salt Lake Valley. On the list, we also have clinics from Northern and Southern Utah.  Additionally, you will find low or no cost health resources in Nevada and San Francisco/Oakland, California. Also, we have a list of free medical resources in California.

All of the listed clinics and community health centers state on their website if they will accept a payment plan. Likewise, some clinics may provide services on a sliding fee scale. Other clinics are free. Contact the clinics or health resources directly. They can explain their payment options. There are free medical resources in Idaho. Likewise, learn about free medical resources in Colorado.

If you want to win your SSD case, then you need medical evidence. Therefore, you must see a doctor. Doctor’s progress notes, tests, and medical opinions are the evidence for your SSD and SSI case. If you do not have ongoing treatment from a doctor, then you will not win your case. Review the importance of medical evidence in your benefits case. The SSA will only accept medical evidence from official doctors. They consider official evidence to be from primary care doctors and counselors.

For example, for physical problems, you might need to see a doctor who is an expert in pain. However, for mental problems you need to visit a psychologist or counselor. It is also smart to see a counselor on a weekly basis for mental issues.

SECONDARY ACCEPTABLE HEALTHCARE RESOURCES

For many years, the SSA would only accept medical opinions from treating doctors with an M.D. behind their name. Fortunately, the SSA realizes now that most patients get treatment from other types of professionals. Most doctors employ a P.A. or Physician’s Assistant. That person might take your vitals or discuss your medical history. They may also follow you for chronic pain. Likewise, some doctors employ nurses to help them visit with all of their patients. Records from nurses are also important to your benefits case.

For example, you may have a back condition that is causing pain and you go to see the doctor on your first visit. After that, you might go to physical therapy or go to weekly visits with the assistant to the doctor. Because patients receive many different types of medical treatment, the SSA now accepts medical opinions from all health sources, in addition to your doctor.

PHYSICAL HEALTH PROVIDERS FOR NO OR LOW COST

The SSA, for example, recently started to accept medical opinion evidence from Nurse Practitioners. They will also accept evidence written by Physician Assistants into the record. Previously, the medical opinions of these sources were given no weight by the SSA. However, most people receive their medical treatment from these resources, rather than a doctor.

If the Physician Assistant fills out SSA’s paperwork for you, then make sure you also have a copy of their progress notes to submit to the SSA.  Likewise, you need to collect the same records from your Nurse Practitioner or any other health source that you have.

Medical opinion evidence is only positive in your case if it is written by the people who actually see you on a regular basis. These sources would normally treat yours for physical conditions like back pain and spinal conditions, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, or Multiple Sclerosis.

MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS FOR NO OR LOW COST

Mental Health sources can be Licensed Clinical Social Workers, counselors, or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. Sometimes, these mental health sources work with a medical doctor.

Typically, mental health resources and doctors treat you for Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, or PTSD. Many people see counselors for other problems too. For instance, you may have Schizophrenia, Personality Disorder, or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

The judge in your case is required to look at all of the medical evidence regarding your mental health. You need a copy of these records for the SSA. Therefore, it is a good idea to obtain all of the medical records that your doctor writes during treatment.

You should also obtain a copy of any testing that is done. These records are usually given to you for free, if you ask for them while you are at the appointment. If you do not have a primary care doctor or mental health doctor, please use the list below to obtain treatment.

FIND A FREE OR LOW COST DOCTOR ON THE LIST BELOW

We cannot stress enough how important it is for you to find a doctor who will treat your conditions. While you may think it is not possible to go to the doctor because you do not have enough money, you must still do it. There are clinics and doctors in every state that are free and low cost.

However, in order to get treatment you have to call and make an appointment. Then, keep the appointment. You must also tell the doctor all of the things that are keeping you from being able to work. Then, you must get medical treatment.

It is your responsibility to seek out a doctor. Make an appointment and go to them for treatment on a regular basis. If you don’t do it, then you won’t have medical evidence about your condition. Therefore, your case will be denied. However, if you do go to the doctor on a regular basis, then your chances of winning benefits will be much higher.
